Paris, July 2-3, 2025 – The NavHyS consortium has gathered at the ENGIE Lab Crigen site in Paris for its 6-Month General Assembly – an important project milestone, marking six months of collaborative progress in advancing the future of sustainable, hydrogen-powered shipping.
Co-funded by the European Union and supported by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, the NavHyS project is pioneering a next-generation below-deck liquid hydrogen (LH₂) storage and fuel system, designed for integration into Service Operating Vessels (SOVs). This initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen as a clean, safe, and efficient energy carrier for maritime applications—contributing to Europe’s transition toward zero-emission shipping.
Over the course of two days, project partners reviewed early achievements, exchanged technical knowledge, and defined priorities for the next phase of work.
The first day featured presentations from each Work Package, where partners shared progress, technical insights, and milestones achieved to date. Discussions reflected the consortium’s strong start and early successes across multiple areas. The day concluded with a networking dinner, offering an opportunity to reflect on the exchanges of the day and strengthen collaboration among partners.
The second day focused on in-depth technical workshops dedicated to LH₂ storage and fuel system design. Moreover, participants took part in a guided tour of ENGIE Crigen’s facilities, gaining firsthand insight into the research and innovation shaping the future of hydrogen technologies. The assembly concluded with a wrap-up session outlining the action plan for the next six months.
Looking ahead, the next phase will build on the strong foundations laid in the first six months, as the consortium continues to advance technological efforts and deliver tangible results. With each milestone, the NavHyS project gains further momentum—driving progress toward a cleaner, greener maritime future powered by liquid hydrogen
