From 29–30 April 2026, the NavHyS project was featured at the 14th Nationale Maritime Konferenz (NMK) in Emden via a booth of of our partners from Maritimes Cluster Norddeutschland (MCN).
As the German Government’s central event supporting the maritime economy, the NMK is a key platform for exchange and strategic dialogue in the sector. Around 800 participants attended the event, which was opened by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. This year’s edition focused on strengthening maritime security and promoting targeted investments for future technologies.
At the conference, NavHyS showcased the potential of innovative hydrogen-based solutions for a sustainable shipping sector. A particular highlight was the presentation of a model of the NavHyS Service Operation Vessel Concept – based on the VARD 4-19 type and created by North Star– at the booth of Maritimes Cluster Norddeutschland, which attracted considerable interest from conference participants. By the end of the project in 2027, NavHyS will deliver the approved design of this vessel, equipped with a 200-300 m³ liquid hydrogen tank below-deck.
The participation at NMK once again demonstrated the increasing momentum behind sustainable maritime technologies – and we are proud that NavHyS is contributing to this transition.
