The NavHyS project has attended the DVGW Kongress 2025, held on 24–25 September at the World Conference Center in Bonn. This event, hosted by the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water (DVGW), is the leading platform for Germany’s gas and water sectors.

Bringing together professionals from business, science, politics, and practice, the congress serves as a hub to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of energy and water supply. This year’s thematic focus was on hydrogen scale-up and climate-resilient water supply, reflected in a programme of sessions built around the two main strands – energy and water.

Programme Highlights

  • Energy-focused discourse on
    • Grid planning: hydrogen core grid and conversion of distribution grids
    • Perspective on national supply and energy security
    • H2 storage strategies and technical solutions for underground storage
  • Water-focused discourse on
    • Water infrastructure: increasing resilience, investment needs due to climate change
    • Climate change: increased temperatures in distribution networks, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction
    • Network information and documentation, open-source solutions
  • Breakout sessions on
    • Hydrogen in the industry

NavHyS in the Spotlight

NavHyS was present with a mini-stand, showcasing its project objectives and ongoing work. This gave us the opportunity to actively connect with stakeholders interested in the project, fostering new collaborations and exchanging ideas to drive forward the hydrogen agenda.

Closing Reflections

Engaging with experts and industry stakeholders at the DVGW Congress reinforced that innovation and  collaboration are key to Europe’s energy transition. NavHyS leaves inspired by the energy, ideas, and partnerships formed during the event.
